I wasn’t totally sold on heading down to TPC Sawgrass.
I’d heard the Junior Players was loaded with talent this year, and we have a great relationship with the course, but part of me figured it’d just be a few handshakes and a quiet walk. Worth doing, but not urgent.
Still, I went. And I’m glad I did.
A few holes in, I spot Chuck Woods. There’s a quiet buzz around him, of course, being the son of one of the greatest golfers of all time.
You can feel it -- the name, the swing, the presence.
Then I look down. Del Campo socks.
Chuck had pulled the right club and the right pair.
We’re at the par-3 3rd. 177 yards. He steps up and flushes it. Pure tempo. One hop, and it’s gone. Blue Palms for the win.
Hole-in-one. Crowd loses it.
Chuck? Calm as a palm. Not smug, just steady. Like he expected it. Fist bumps his playing partners. No big celebration. Just a quiet smile that said everything.
It was surreal. Our socks were right there in the moment.
They’re sold out now, but you can still grab the OG Palms in black if you want the same feel.
The Day Before
On Friday, Chuck was out there in Red Smileys.
Here are a few shots from the round. Kid knows how to pick a pair.
Don’t 3-putt,
