By October the whole city is dressed the same and nobody had to organize it.
Watch the helmets across a season and you can read the year right off them. Buckeye leaves go on one at a time, handed out for plays that earned them, until by November some of those helmets are almost covered and everyone in the stands knows exactly why.
When it's over, win or lose, the team walks to the band and everybody puts an arm around whoever is standing next to them and sings Carmen Ohio. Very few people leave early for that part.
